Every week we shine a spotlight on one of our wonderful Wee Walkies members. This week, we'd love you to meet Alexandra — the passionate, dedicated woman behind Tails of Joy Pet Services.

My name is Alexandra and I started Tails of Joy Pet Services because I have always had a deep passion for animals and knew from an early age that working with them was my calling.

Starting Tails of Joy Pet Services has been one of the most rewarding things I've ever done. Every wagging tail, every contented purr and every happy owner reminds me why I chose this career. I don't just look after pets — I build relationships with them, and it's a privilege to become part of so many families' lives.

Alexandra has just finished a short pet sit — 3 days and 2 nights — looking after the lovely Ozzy. Ozzy is a gorgeous male German Shepherd who just loves to love you!

He provided Alexandra with lots of fun and so many kisses! She introduced him to a couple of puzzle games, which he absolutely smashed in record time. She also gifted him a squeaky goose soft toy and a ball and rope toy — which was definitely his favourite!

Ozzy had three walks a day and walks beautifully on the lead. He's also a big hit with the neighbourhood kids. What a superstar! 🐾

I love meeting all the pets that I care for and their owners. The best part of the job is the relationships that the pets and I build with each other.

There is nothing more rewarding than winning the trust of a nervous, shy or anxious pet — and I also love the greetings that I get from each and every one of them every time I visit.

The worst part of the job is saying goodbye to the pets, especially once a long-term pet sit has ended. We become so close and I miss them terribly — but thankfully I do get to see most of them again when their owners next go away.

For me, pet care isn't about popping in, filling a bowl and leaving. It's about making sure every animal feels safe, comfortable and loved while their owner is away.

Whether it's a playful puppy, a nervous rescue cat or an elderly rabbit needing medication, I strive to tailor every visit to that individual pet.

This is the handsome Reo. He is a British Shorthair cat. Alexandra popped in on him twice a day for a week last month.

She brought lots of toys and games for him to play during each visit — but by far his favourite thing was accepting and eating the treats she offered him! He is very sweet natured and, although cautious at first, he now allows Alexandra to stroke and make a fuss of him. 🐾

This heartwarming photo tells a very special story. These two dogs — Oskar the Airedale Terrier and Lexi, Alexandra's own dog — became the best of friends. When Alexandra lost her other dog to cancer, Lexi was really grieving. Oskar, who Alexandra walks every week, provided so much comfort and support during that heartbreaking time.

Lexi doesn't usually take to other dogs — but she and Oskar hit it off right from the start, and now they love nothing more than going adventuring together. ❤️

Sometimes the most unexpected friendships are the most precious ones.
