What WeeWalkies is
WeeWalkies is a community platform and directory. We connect pet owners with independent pet professionals — including dog walkers, pet sitters, groomers, boarders and pet businesses — across the UK. We are not an agency and we do not employ the professionals listed on our platform.
Professional responsibility
Pet professionals listed on WeeWalkies are responsible for ensuring they hold any licences, insurance, qualifications or registrations required for the services they offer. This includes, but is not limited to:
- •Animal boarding licences (legally required for home boarders and kennels in England, Scotland and Wales)
- •Public liability insurance
- •DBS / PVG checks where relevant
- •Any professional qualifications or certifications they claim to hold
WeeWalkies does not guarantee that every professional on the platform holds the required licences, insurance or qualifications. Pet owners are encouraged to ask professionals directly and to verify credentials before booking.
Making an informed choice
Start with a conversation
Ask about the professional's experience, services, availability and how they would care for your pet's individual needs. Take time to decide whether they feel like the right fit.
Ask to see relevant documents
Where relevant to the service, ask to see insurance, licences, DBS or PVG information, qualifications and references directly. You can also check licence details with the relevant local authority.
Profile information is supplied by members
Professionals are responsible for the information they add to their profiles. WeeWalkies does not independently check or endorse credentials, qualifications, insurance, licences or experience.
A note on pet boarding licensing
In England, Scotland and Wales, anyone providing paid home boarding or kennel boarding for dogs is legally required to hold a licence from their local authority. This is a legal requirement under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018 and equivalent legislation in Scotland and Wales.
If you offer boarding services and list your profile on WeeWalkies, you are responsible for ensuring you hold the correct licence and for sharing relevant details with prospective clients when asked.
For pet owners: when booking boarding, always ask the professional for their licence number and check it with the relevant local authority if you have any concerns.
How we handle concerns
If you have a concern about a professional's conduct or profile information, please report it to us privately rather than making public accusations on the platform. We review reports in line with our community guidelines.
WeeWalkies may remove profiles, suspend accounts or remove content where we have reasonable grounds to believe that information is misleading, false or in breach of our community guidelines.
